Did you know we started serving the community out of a residential garage in Briar? It was originally overseen by Chris Stoker and the Azle Area Ministerial Alliance.
Our first Executive Director was James Taylor, who started in August of 1989. By then, we had outgrown the garage and operated out of the Old Eagle Mountain Lumber Yard.
In 1990, Jack Watson was appointed as Executive Director. Jack Watson started a supplemental program with Tarrant Area Food Bank to provide food for people in chronic need. CCC was originally set up to provide emergency assistance but added the new program on a non-emergency basis for people on a fixed income, people with disabilities, or the working poor.
Jack Watson said: “Our emphasis will continue to be on the caring part. We can’t meet all the needs, but we can meet the basic human need of compassion.”
Our existing building is almost exactly 20 years old. It was a big community push to fund the creation of this building.
Thank you to everyone in the community that made Azle Community Caring Center what it is today. It was truly built by our community and has continued to grow with the support of our Azle community.
