Community Caring Center Impact Report 2024

In 2024

We were open 237 days and served groceries for a total of 593 hours. The food pantry and Free Shop’s regular hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday: 9am to 11:30am, and Thursday: 4pm to 6:30pm. Any closures were due to national holidays, inclement weather, or construction of the new 3,700 sq. ft. cooler/freezer unit.

During those 539 hours, 1.1 million pounds of food were distributed in 19,910 grocery carts to 4,418 families that would otherwise be uncertain of where their next meal would come from. 6,973 school aged children had access to additional food ensuring they had the nourishment needed to focus and thrive.

The Free Shop had 12,383 visits from our clients over the past year, reinforcing the need to provide clothing, household goods and hygiene items.

424 volunteers served 19,537 hours, united by a common purpose of caring for those in need in our community with the provision of food, clothing, and household goods, creating a strong sense of community and compassion.

With your support

$104,851

The Community Caring Center spent $104,851 to purchase the food we served. This represents 73% of the 1.1 million pounds of food distributed in 2024. The remaining 27% of food was donated or acquired free of charge.

$1,134,000

We raised $1,134,000 towards our goal of $1 million for the Food Pantry Capital Campaign to kick off PHASE 3 of the upgrades to the Community Caring Center. Renovations to the food pantry building, aimed at meeting current standards and increasing efficiency, are set to commence in spring 2025.

PHASE 1 was the launching of The Porch Resale Shoppe in 2021, which generated $315,000 in revenue this year alone, to support CCC.

PHASE 2 was the addition of the new 3,700 sq. ft. cooler/freezer unit, to be operational in spring 2025.

$49,004

CCC provided 6,995 food backpacks for the Azle ISD Weekend Backpack Program for children identified as chronically hungry. In addition to this program that provides food directly to students Kindergarten thru 8th grade, CCC finances the Azle ISD Emergency Fund. This fund is accessed by the Azle ISD School Social Worker for students and their families facing homelessness or loss of essential utilities. Combined, these programs cost $49,004.

$6,000

Our Free Shop, which includes the Hygiene Corner, was visited by our clients 12,383 times in 2024. It continues to ease the financial burden of purchasing clothing, household items, shoes, toys, and personal hygiene items. Most items are donated to the Free Shop by our very generous community; however, we do purchase items for the Hygiene Corner with $6,000 of budgeted funds. We purchased and distributed 5,280 hygiene items including bar soap, body wash, feminine products, shampoo, razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and laundry detergent.

As we look back on 2024, we see not just numbers, but countless stories of resilience and kindness, a testament to the power of collective action in making a tangible difference in the lives of others.
